A few years ago my fellow students and I made a card game. These are some of the visual contributions of mine that I managed to find on my home comp, I do have the full game printed in card form. I worked on the research, story bible, and playtesting for the game as well. We were inspired by Mesoamerican cultures.
It was a project for us to research narrative visual design and symbology. More inspired by Tarot than Magic the Gathering. A short description of the game: There are the Travelers (with 1 character card and modifier cards) and there is the Storyteller (Settings and Encounters (+ a d20)) who thinks up a scenario for each chapter(round). What you see on the card should stir your creativity, except for the basic rules, there is nothing written. You can interpret the card as you want.
Your goal is to convince the Storyteller that you are the protagonist of their tales and saved the day. The d20 is there so the Storyteller has some power to control the actions of a player if they make a very bold claim, 'You need to roll higher than an 11 for that.' it is super lite dming. But it adds a bit of dynamism to the game besides 'who told the best story.'
